The name in Spanish means "the stairs [or ladder] of God," and recalls the Carthusian monastery that had been a center of winemaking in this area of Priorat (near Barcelona). See the short article on the 2003 vintage, from Elliot Essman.
The wine is a garnacha, cabernet, and syrah blend, firm, dry, and beautiful. You will want to put it on your cool-weather-reds list, for the day cool weather arrives ... though not too soon, please.
